What is this?

This is an interactive, collaborative, AI-infused art and gifts project for the Electric Forest Festival. I made several Forest-themed collectable card game-style cards to give as gifts to the staff and police at the festival. Each card is hand-printed on a wood base, waterproof, and about the size of a regular playing card. Before the festival, this site will be used to collect messages of thanks from festivalgoers. During and after the festival, card recipients can come here and enter the unique code on the back of their card to receive the messages of thanks from a grateful Forest Family.

How is it collaborative?

Before the festival, you and other Forest Family like you can come here and write messages of thanks to the staff who make Electric Forest safe, fun, clean, and immersive year after year. Each card has a unqiue code on the back. When someone with a card enters their code on this site during or after Forest, they will unlock access to these messages, a deluge of thank yous from strangers on the internet.

How do I participate?

Just clicky click here and you'll be on your way.

Are you affiliated with Electric Forest?

I am not affiliated with Electric Forest or any of the companies that put on the event. I'm just a person trying to enhance the Forest experience for myself, for you, and for the staff who work hard so that we can have fun every year.

How was the card art generated?

I generated the art for each card using Adobe Firefly. I wrote each prompt using the name, type, and description of each card, along with some additional information to help Firefly build an image that resembled what I had in my head.

Can I give my card to someone else?

You sure can. Each card can be activated an unlimited number of times.

I'm a fellow nerd and I want techincal details.

This here is a Rails 7 app hosted on Heroku. I'm using Tailwind for the frontend components, including some pre-built components from HyperUI. To render the cards in CSS, I made heavy use of this tutorial by Davide Iaiunese.
